Are you laboring in vain?
Are you living in vain?
[1Co 15:56-58 NASB20] 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the Law; 57 but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my beloved brothers [and sisters,] be firm, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not [in] vain in the Lord.
I. The gospel saves us from a wasted life but one of victory!
II. Are you doing the work of the Lord?
a. Firm
b. Immovable
c. Excelling
III. A life of faith lived “East of Eden” is not in vain!
[1Co 10:31-33 NASB20] 31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all things for the glory of God. 32 Do not offend Jews or Greeks, or the church of God; 33 just as I also please everyone in all things, not seeking my own benefit but the [benefit] of the many, so that they may be saved.
You have an eternal life with God and the first 100 Years of that eternal life is difficult but has a once in eternity opportunity to reflect the nature of God and accomplish good which you will never have again for all eternity.
In heaven you cannot glorify God by:
Forgiving someone who sins against you
Loving your enemy.
Giving the gospel to an unbeliever.
Sacrificing limited resources to give to a ministry.
Provide help to those in need.
Visiting a sick friend.
Raising a child in the faith.
Working with sweat and tears to provide for your family.
Giving birth to a child.
Fighting against injustice
Making disciples of people.
Teaching people who don’t know the truth the truth.
Comforting the mourning.
Worshiping God after suffering loss.
Jewish toast, L'Chaim, which means “To life!” Judaism puts very big emphasis on life and the importance of living a good life,
Big Idea: As a priest of God saved by faith in Christ Jesus, every moment of your life is sacred and brings glory to God you live a life worthy of the gospel in every relationship.
Take note this week of all the ways you are reflecting the truth and love of God in all the things you do.
